Staff Photographer | August 2017 - December 2017
The goal: The Red Cedar Log hired me as a photographer to capture stories at Michigan State University. The goal of the organization was to encapsulate the year by highlighting perspectives from several clubs, sports, events, and arts initiatives.
How I did it: Each week I pitched story ideas and collaborated with staff writers, editors, and designers to develop newsworthy content. I partnered with a writer to shoot stories on the following events and organizations during 2017: Michigan State University’s first student-run business, field hockey games, Trevor Noah at the Breslin, life as an RA, the Honors College Turning 60, MSU Black Student Alliance: Black Power Rally, MSU Racing Club, Michigan State University Counseling Center.
What happened next: This experience expanded my horizons as a student and a photographer. I developed and refined my technical skill and artistic eye, and this job taught me how to embark on unfamiliar projects with curiosity and confidence.
