The goal: Q1 Productions didn’t have established guidelines on how and how not to communicate on behalf of the organization. Recognized for my writing and editing skills, I was recruited to join a brand team to create a style guide and social media policy for the business.

How I did it: I audited external and internal communications across teams, and I spoke with executive leadership about the goals of the organization. Together we developed Q1 Productions’ mission, vision, and values statement. I used this information to guide and execute the brand voice. From here, I identified a style manual for the business to follow and compiled brand specific exceptions to rules about grammar and formatting.

I applied these rules to build a social media policy for employees and partners to utilize.

What happened next: Now Q1 Productions has an established brand voice that reflects and contributes to the goals of the business. Every employee knows where and where not to place a comma, and I learned correct comma placement excites me more than the average human.
